(Pocket -lint) – Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in addition to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and several other devices during Unpacked on August 11, 2021.
While Samsung itself hasn’t confirmed any specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 3, there are plenty of rumors, helping to reveal what we can expect from the third – or fourth – generation if you count a fixed version of the original – device.
This is how the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, based on speculation.

Based on rumors, and descriptions, it looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have similar design features, but the Z Fold 3 will make some refinements, including a smoother rear camera housing.
The vertically folded book -style design will continue for the Z Fold 3 with a large display on the front, open to a larger interior display, though there is some discussion about the Z Fold 3 adding waterproofing, as well as a harder frame.
Other reports also suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 may offer a lower -display front camera on the main display, which will look smoother in design than the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s central -hole camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with a 6.23 -inch external display on the front, which offers a resolution of 2260 x 816, and a 7.6 -inch display when folded which has a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels.

The collapsible dynamic AMOLED display has HDR10 + certification and it offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover display is on the outside of the AMOLED device, but has a standard 60Hz refresh rate.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is rumored to come with a 6.23 -inch screen on the outside, offering a resolution of 2268 x 832 pixels, while the inner screen is claimed to be 7.56 inches with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels, making it similar to its predecessor. A 120Hz refresh rate is expected on the main display again, as well as HDR10 +support.
Where the two devices may be different however the top of the main display. As mentioned, some rumors suggest that the main folding display may have a bottom -screen camera compared to the punch hole camera on the Z Fold 2. It is still expected to have a punch hole camera on the Z Fold 3 front screen, like the Z Fold 2.
It also says the Z Fold 3 will offer support for the S Pen, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
Hardware and specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 platform, with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB storage.
The device is 5G capable and there is a 4500mAh battery under the lid, which supports 25W fast charging, 11W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Rumors are very thin in terms of what hardware the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will offer, but we expect to see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or 888 Plus, backed again by at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It is expected that the Z Fold 3 will be 5G capable again, though rumors claim the battery capacity will be slightly smaller than its predecessor. It is said that it can be 4380mAh, which is the same as the original Fold. We expect support for fast charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 has three cameras on the back, consisting of a 12 -megapixel main camera (f / 1.8), a 12 -megapixel telephoto sensor (f / 2.4), and an ultra -12 -megapixel (f / 2.2) overall camera.
On the front, there’s a 10-megapixel punch hole front camera, and a 10-megapixel punch hole camera sits at the top of the main display as well.
According to rumors, the Z Fold 3 will come with a triple rear camera consisting of a 12 -megapixel main camera, a 12 -megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 12 -megapixel ultra -wide camera as well. There are claims that Samsung will offer Autofocus Detection Focus on all three of those lenses, which means we should get fast and accurate focus.
There’s a 10-megapixel front-hole camera on the cover display, along with a 16-megapixel bottom camera on the main display, the latter of which will be the main difference between the Z Fold 2 and Z Fold 3.
Based on speculation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will offer some design refinements compared to its predecessor, largely in terms of the camera housing on the back.
It should also offer hardware upgrades in terms of processor, some camera upgrades on the rear camera, as well as the possibility of adding a below -screen camera on the main screen.
The battery capacity can be reduced compared to the Z Fold 2 and the display specifications remain the same, except for the idea that the Z Fold 3 will support the S Pen.
