We recently reported on a Weibo leak that signaled that Huawei’s latest flagship line – the Huawei P50 series – may be officially launched at an event held on July 29th. The rumor was just officially confirmed today, straight from the company (thanks MyFixGuide).
The moving company announced this morning that the event was indeed scheduled Thursday, July 29, at 7:30 pm Chinese Standard Time (which is equivalent to 6:30 a.m. Central Time) On that date, everything will finally be revealed about the new series, which will most likely consist of the Huawei P50 Pro, Huawei P50 Pro, and possibly the Huawei P50 Pro Plus.
Back in May, there was short -term rumors that the P50 lineup might see light at Huawei’s spring event (Huawei’s Smart Collaboration Spring Conference on May 17), but it shouldn’t, as it was finally held in the official summer of the event instead.
A new era for Huawei with OS Harmony
The launch of the series will be something special, as they will be the first of Huawei’s devices to initially ship with an internal operating system, Harmony OS.
“HarmonyOS is built based on a distributed operating system architecture to work across multiple devices and this is part of Huawei’s all -encompassing strategy,” Huawei said on their website. “This new OS can be adapted to mobile offices, fitness, and health, social communication, media entertainment.”
Huawei also promised to update around 100 devices to run Harmony OS last month, including the Huawei P40 series, Mate 40 series, Mate 30 series, and more. The company hopes to have more than 100 million active HarmonyOS users as an end goal.
The P50 series must have some impressive specs
It was initially thought the P50 series would use the Kirin 9000, the second 5nm chip used on smartphones, but that may not be the case. The U.S. ban could make it impossible due to shortened supply, and word on the street is that the P50 lineup may instead feature a new 4G version of the Snapdragon 888 main processor, named Snapdragon 888 Pro.
The Huawei P50 model comes with 6 / 8GB memory and 128 / 256GB storage.
The P50 lineup can also feature different display curvatures, with the base P50 model featuring less curved, almost flat glass on the sides (like the Galaxy S20 and S20 +), while the P50 Pro will feature a waterfall display with aggressive curved sides (similar to Mate 40 Pro). The P50 Pro Plus reportedly carries a quad curved screen.
It is expected that the Huawei P50 will be equipped with a 6.1 -inch to 6.2 -inch AMOLED display, a 6.6 -inch AMOLED screen for the P50 Pro, and a 6.8 -inch AMOLED for the P50 Pro Plus.
Battery life is said to be 4,000mAh for the P50 model, 4,200mAh for the P50 Pro, and 4,500mAh for the P50 Pro +.
Of course, we expect the complete specifications to be revealed or confirmed in all their successes on the official Huawei P50 launch date, July 29th.
