WhatsApp Web Updated With ‘Take A Look’ Feature for Photos, Videos: Reports

The WhatsApp web began receiving updates that allow users to post photos and videos that can be viewed only once, according to a report. The new feature, called ‘view once’, was initially seen on a recent beta release for Android The feature hasn’t been launched for all users on mobile phones, but now appears to be also being tested on the WhatsApp Web. In November, the Facebook -owned platform introduced a missing messaging feature that allows users to have conversations that are not permanent and disappear after seven days. Unlike some other popular apps, WhatsApp does not allow users to set how long the message will be available, so the message remains available for a week.

WABetaInfo has reported on the launch of WhatsApp Web version 2.2126.11 which allows users to make pictures and videos disappear from chats once they are viewed. Users are said to see a ‘view once’ button while sharing media content via a Web client – if the feature is already available for their WhatsApp account.

Last month, WhatsApp was seen testing the ‘view once’ feature for WhatsApp for Android users. WABetaInfo at the time reported that it was launched to beta testers via WhatsApp for Android version 2.21.14.3.

WhatsApp will make it easier for users to share sensitive photos and videos through its platform temporarily by offering new missing features. However, recipients still have the option to store media content on their device by capturing a screenshot.

The updated WhatsApp Web release is also said to have a new archive feature where the instant messaging app will not notify users about messages coming to the archived thread.

The two executives also confirmed the launch of the ‘view once’ feature and suggested testing multi-device support in the next few days.
