If you want to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11, there are a few things you might want to keep in mind. Microsoft intends to provide a 10 -day window (nothing intended) for upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11, in case you change your mind, and want to come back. After 10 days of being checked, the only way to return to Windows 10 on the same PC is to do a clean install. PC makers, including MSI and Dell confirmed this to consumers, as more information about the Windows 11 upgrade becomes clearer, ahead of the final release later this year. It’s unclear at this time why there is a 10 -day return and why data can’t be saved even after that if Windows 11 doesn’t suit your wishes.
Once you upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on your PC, you’ll get 10 days to experiment and decide if the next -generation Windows operating system works for you and for the apps you use on a regular basis. Within 10 days, you can return to Windows 10 at any time while maintaining your data and settings. However, if you can’t make a decision right away and make a decision after 10 days, you can still go back to Windows 10 but that requires an installation of Windows 10. The new Windows 11 will launch as a free update later this year and PCs already running Windows 10 will be able to download and install new OSes, mostly seamlessly. This runs the tradition Microsoft set in 2015 with Windows 10, which is offered as a free update for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs.

Dell confirmed the same, in a FAQ released for their customers.This may be linked to packages an installation of Windows 11 that will be uninstalled after 10 days. ”Windows 11 and Windows 10 require about the same amount of disk space. However, during the upgrade process, additional space is required. Windows will clean up this additional disk space about ten days after the upgrade1 is completed, “says the MSI FAQ document.
If you’re feeling brave enough, there’s a Windows Insider Preview for Windows 11 available right now. This test build will allow you to get an early taste of Windows 11, though you should keep in mind that these are many versions that are underway and anticipate issues and performance issues as some things will be fixed in the coming weeks.
